Trumpet virtuosi Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer, professors of trumpet at Northwestern University and former members of the Chicago, Seattle, Lyric Opera and Montreal Symphony Orchestras, perform Georges Bizet's dazzling Carmen Fantasia for Two Trumpets. The second half of the concert features Northwestern University's heralded Symphonic Wind Ensemble joining the NCB onstage for massive performances of Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium and the epic masterwork Dionysiaques by Florent Schmitt.
